PA Small Business Formation

  • To create a Pennsylvania LLC or start a corporation, you need to get your future company formation documents approved by the state and pay a compulsory filing fee of $125;
  • Notably, military veterans and reservists can launch a registered business entity in the state for free subject to having an appropriate status verification at hand;
  • To keep your newly formed entity legitimate and in compliance with statutory rules, you are required to appoint a Pennsylvania registered agent;
  • Unlike many other states, PA requires legal entities to file a state report only once per decade and pay a decennial fee of $70;
  • A personal income tax in PA is levied at a flat rate of 3.07% against the taxable income of individuals, trusts, partnerships, S-Corps, and LLCs;
  • Corporate incomes are also taxed at a flat rate of 9.99%;
  • A state sales tax in PA is charged at a 6% rate. It further mixes with a local sales tax rate (2% to the max) resulting in an average combined rate of 6.34%;
  • A property tax in place is relatively low at 1.46%.
